Welcome to Richmond Brewery. Craft beer has been talked about a lot recently, and you can see that in the number of new micro-breweries opening up. Its been great becoming part of the North Yorkshire scene and seeing all the beers and breweries in pubs across the county. I’m excited to be part of it and we have some really high standards to live up to.
One of the things I’ve learnt since the current phase of Richmond Brewing Company started is that the craft is not just creating a new recipe, but how you produce beer: how to stop all the sugar being eaten by yeast made pretty hyper by the warm weather; understanding the ingredients or process that most impact the character of the brew from day to day; having everything prepared so that the beer is delivered as fresh as possible. All to ensure the flavour is as good as possible.
So what will we aspire to do at the brewery? Take pride in making something that people love to drink. Brew for local people, and use local ingredients as much as possible. Make current styles, old styles, try new styles: enjoy fragrant hops, the depths of malt, rich sweetness or refreshing bitterness. Most of all to have fun – so please come and visit us at the brewery in the old station building, have a look around, and tell us what you think.
