Big News!
Richmond Brewing Company are delighted and very excited to announce that we have secured lease of The Pump House, which forms part of The Station complex. This beautiful building will be used as storage mainly for bottles and casks. But why are we so excited to get a glorified shed, albeit a pretty one?
Cask Storage
The stone structure of the pump house is perfect for keeping things cold. We will be installing a full cooling unit into one of the two rooms and using it solely to store casks at an ideal temperature. This will mean that we will be able to produce more, better quality ales, which will keep for longer and will arrive with our customers in absolute peak condition. In the summer, we run at peak production but have very little cask storage in the brewery and it can be difficult to keep all of our casks cold and not have to move them, resulting in ale that just isn’t as good as we want it to be. The Pump House will solve that problem
Other Storage
Anyone who has visited us at The Station will be aware that we are a little pushed for space in the brewery. By moving a lot of our stock into the Pump House, we’ll have more room for other things in the brewery. We’re hoping to start doing more regular brewery tours with larger groups, as well as the possibility of installing a hand bottling unit so that we can hand bottle our seasonal ales for sale in the brewery and at the various events we already attend. We’re really excited to be able to offer our retail customers the chance to sample our incredible seasonal beers that have until now only been available on cask.
